The Shape of Odour: Materializing and Digitizing Sensations

This workshop explores the relationship between scents, 3D digital creation, and memory. Participants are invited to interact with different smells and use creative writing as a springboard to “translate” these scents into 3D digital sculptures, either by digitizing clay models or by using the Nomad app on an iPad. These sculptures become archival manifestations of place and smell, whilst simultaneously testifying to the subjectivity and mutability of memory. Participant’s digital smell-objects may be incorporated into a virtual online rendition of AKA Herring Park, hosted by Allo Ada.

Cet atelier explore la relation entre les odeurs, la création numérique en 3D et la mémoire. Les participant.e.s sont invité.e.s à interagir avec différentes odeurs et à utiliser l’écriture créative comme point de départ pour « traduire » ces odeurs en sculptures numérique 3D, en numérisant des modelages d’argile ou en utilisant l’application Nomad sur IPAD. Ces sculptures deviennent des manifestations archivistiques du lieu et de l’odeur, tout en témoignant de la subjectivité et de la mutabilité de la mémoire. Les objets olfactifs numériques des participant.e.s pourront être intégrés à une version virtuelle en ligne d’AKA Herring Park, hébergée par Allo Ada.
